Why does the media report things out of perspective? When you look at the “real” facts surounding Influenza or the flu, 20,000-40,000 Americans die annually from Influenza / flu symptoms or complications. To date, there have been only a few confirmed deaths related to Swine flu.
Why did the media not report the number of confirmed cases of individuals infected with Swine flu that recovered with no need for special medications or treatments. The reality of Swine flu is that it’s just another strain of flu. Apparently, reporting one or two deaths creates more of a market for all of the products folks want to sell for wellness and health care.
The spin doctors in the media, school boards, and government agencies will now claim that because of the panic, awareness, school closings, travel alerts, and the slaughtering of pigs in the hundreds of thousands around the globe a major pandemic was avoided.
When the next strain of flu comes around or potentially threatening virus, let’s keep cool heads and look at the facts and numbers.
I applaud the Texas Rangers, the Dallas Mavericks, Dallas ISD, and other organizations for keeping cool heads and looking at the facts and numbers related to this issue.
