I just caught the tail end of a news conference with the mayor of Houston and the media. To my astonishment, he was defending why FEMA vehicles arrived a possible three hours off schedule.

Shame on the media and anyone else nit picking public officials for the job they are doing. I wonder if we are turning into a nation of complainers. The day after a major hurricane devastates communities all along the gulf coast the media is fueling public complaints over power outages and the inability to get a bag of ice.

Let’s cut some slack to public officials, volunteers, and media outlets that are actually focused on solving problems. Through great tragedy communities come together. That’s a good thing.
