App Store Hits 10 Billion Downloads

Not sure if you stayed up to watch or even tried to be the 10 billionth download from the App Store. Now we need to sit watch and wait to see who the fortunate person was. There were two ways to actually win according to Apple's official rules; You could either be the 10 billionth app download or last online form entry just after the 9,999,999,999th app download. While this was probably just another night or early morning for most folks, it's an interesting milestone considering the fact that Steve Jobs just took a medial leave of absence an the iPhone is now the considered the largest wireless phone provider based on sales numbers. Did you stay up to watch the 10 billionth download which occurred somewhere around 4:30am? I got too distracted and missed the actual time. What will the next big milestone be for Apple? ScanSnap fi-5110EOXM scanner – Mac Drivers

I currently use a ScanSnap fi-5110EOXM scanner which runs great with Windows XP. However I want to use the scanner on my Mac / MacBook Pro. I downloaded the latest Mac compatible driver from Fujitsu, but after installing the software it never recognizes the scanner. I've tried switching USB ports, turning scanner off / on, re-installing software, etc. My MacBook Pro uses an Intel based processor which the documentation says it should support. To scan documents successfully I launch VMWare Fusion, launch Windows XP on my Mac and then scan docs. It's a pain in the but and would be easier to just scan from my Mac OS. Any success stories or work-arounds for this scanner? Thanks, Mac User

Business VoIP

Whether you are familiar with Business VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) or VoIP is a new technology vocab word it's worth getting familar with. Voice over IP has been around for quite some time now. (Actually since the Internet was first deemed a fad). VoIP continues to get cheaper and more robust as time marches on. Now, a small business can get VoIP for as little as $9.99 per month per phone with all the features of a large PBX or corporation. VoIP is a service that can replace your traditional phone service and sending your calls over the Internet. VoIP calls can be less costly due to the ability to compress your voice data considerably over old PSTN type phone systems that rely on outdated analog technologies. One such company that offers some great value on business VoIP service is Nextiva. They are an award winning company and can get you started with no contracts or set up fees. One of my favorite features of cutting edge VoIP services is a follow-me feature which…

Matrox DualHead2Go – Disappointment

If you're a power computer user or hardcore gamer, you've probably looked at or considered adding multiple monitor displays for more productivity or a wider angle of view for your favorite pc game. I came across the DualHead2Go and TripleHead2Go from Matrox. These devices allow  you to add multiple monitors to your pc or laptop. After spending much time reading forums, the Matrox site and anything else I could read I decided to spring for a DualHead2Go digital edition. I was confident it would allow me to add two more external monitors to my MacBook Pro. After all, most or many of the advertisement photos where that of a MacBook Pro. There are two possible configurations as Matrox advertises. One configuration allows you to extend your desktop by turning multiple monitors into one large shared screen. The other configuration allows for multiple independent displays for opening and working in different applications. The latter is what I was hoping for. I had my monitors read…
