Boeing Workers Reject New Contract, Vote to Strike

Another indicator of the real state of America. Amidst the tragedy in the Gulf Port states, tens of thousands of Americans being displaced, and a rippling affect going through our economy, we see the selfishness of unions and union employees. Put contract negotiations on hold for six or twelve months, but don't add additional stress to the already fragile economy. I hope employees and union officials feel the sting of this poor decision to call for a strike in the midst of national tragedy. Boeing Workers Reject New Contract, Vote to Strike By VOA News 02 September 2005 Striking Boeing workers Striking Boeing workers Machinists for the U.S. airplane maker Boeing voted to strike Friday, after rejecting a new contract offer. Church Challenge – Hurricane Katrina Survivors

Reverend Frankling Graham issued a challenge to southern churches this evening on Fox News. If every church in the south could take in 10 families from New Orleans survivors of hurricane Katrina, we could make a huge dent in the housing needs for families that have been displaced by the recent flooding. Reverend Graham went on to urge church leaders to challenge their denominations, and to unite for the sake of families in need. Do you have an interest in helping New Orleans families? Contact your church, or church denomination to unite with other churches across the southern U.S. to assist in the short term housing needs of the New Orleans homeless.

The Real State of America

I can’t help but weigh in with all the other opinions and chatter regarding Hurricane Katrina. One of the key things I think will be uncovered by this tragedy is how unprepared the U.S. for the future. In looking at gas prices, it’s not an oil shortage that is the issue, it’s a processing issue. The United States does not have adequate facilities to refine oil into gasoline and keep up with the current demand. Why is this? How did we let ourselves get into a situation? The analyst speaking on this stated that we have not built an oil refinery in the last 25 years! Another analyst covering the building sector stated that we have a concrete shortage here in the U.S. because we have not built any infrastructure in the past 15 years to support the current demand. We look closer at the situation in New Orleans and we see people looting, gang activity with snipers shooting at police, and politicians politicizing the situation. Are we really ready for the future? What are y…

High Gas Prices Create A Boost For Online Shopping

I'm sure someone has already written about it somewhere, but I'll weigh in on the recent increases in gas at the pumps and how it should affect online shopping. Now and in the near future I'm predicting significant growth in online shopping for several reasons. Many people are speculating that we will see gas prices hit $3.00 per gallon...I hope they are wrong. Shopping online has never made more sense than it does now. With many families feeling the pinch at the pump, I'm betting more families will start the shopping online and pocket the savings. With online services like Froogle a shopping site developed by Google allows shoppers to compare prices, shipping in some cases, and even print out maps if you decide you want to drive to pick up your purchase. Starting your shopping online can save you some cash at the pumps. Instead of driving all over Dallas trying to save five bucks on that crazy lamp, compare prices online first and then go pick it up. By shopping and compar…

Her own life was in jeopardy as well from the massive blood loss. After a long road of physical and emotional recovery, artisan Susan Mosquera is helping to raise awareness about pregnancy and child loss through her jewelry and keepsakes. “Grieving parents want their child to be remembered, acknowledged and not forgotten or their death to be in vain,â€? says Susan Mosquera. “Particularly in pregnancy and infant loss, there are very few mementos, so bereaved parents are left to search for or create their own keepsakes.â€? However, finding items that are meaningful and appropriate can be difficult. In response, Mrs. Mosquera has created several unique and heartwarming pieces of jewelry and decorative item…

Wifi Hotspot Access – Options For Road Warriors

Recently I went on a business trip / vacation to New England to visit customers and family I have in that area. While on the road I needed Internet access and was counting on my wifi hotspot access through T-Mobile. I planned on visiting Starbucks that had wireless Internet access. There was one problem, once you leave Dallas, it gets hard to find a Starbucks anywhere with wifi access until you hit Ohio. Next best option; after searching the web for "wifi hotspot directories" and "wireless hotspot directories" to my disappointment, I found hotels offering Free wireless Internet access the next best option. Once I got near a city I planned to spend the night in, a quick stop to any gas station or rest area quickly supplied numerous magazine with hotel coupons and information on hotels offering Free high-speed wifi access. This turned out to be a better solution than even searching the web as some hotels I called on the web didn't have access or it was dial-up. Additionally, w…
